Find their feet by walking

Starting a new job can be a stressful process, made only more challenging by relocating to a new city. To help glispa newcomers settle into their new surroundings, our HR team organizes regular walking tours around different districts in Berlin. Last week a group of 10 new-starters met to explore the south-central neighbourhood of Schöneberg.

On this two-hour tour they touched upon major highlights in the area: Viktoria-Luise-Platz, a beautiful square named for the only daughter of Kaiser Wilhelm II; the district around Nollendorfplatz with its former theater house; St. Matthias church on Winterfeldtplatz, and countless other historical gems scattered throughout the neighbourhood. The great food and beautiful weather was a treat, and even seasoned Berlin-residents said they learnt something new.

Glispa is a truly international company with over 40 nationalities represented. No matter where people come from, it’s important to give them ways to find their feet in Berlin. These walking tours are an important part of our onboarding process, serving two important purposes:

  • First, our starters get a chance to learn more about Berlin and discover the history around them and the diverse nature of the city.
  • Second, it’s a great opportunity to connect with each other outside of work and build relationships; nothing makes a new city more like home than the addition of friends.

We’re attracting top talent from all over the world, and our team makes sure that once they’re here Berlin becomes home – will you be next?
