June is recognized (and colorfully celebrated) in many countries around the world as Pride month. It’s a time dedicated to commemorating the Stonewall riots that has blossomed into a month where people around the world come together to recognize the progress we have made to support LGBTQA+ rights. But we also march to drive more progress; same-sex relationships are still illegal in over 70 countries around the world. We unite to shed light on these injustices that continue to suppress people simply because of who they are and who they love.

This year, we decided to share our #GlispaPRIDE in a big way. We’re proud to have a diverse and open culture beyond race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation, and it’s something we want to continue advocating for in today’s world. Throughout the month, we launched a campaign to find out what love—at its core—means to our employees and hosted a party to raise money for LAMBDA, an LGBTIQ* youth group based in Berlin. Check out more details and pics below.

*A special shoutout and thank you to all of our Glispians who made #GlispaPRIDE a unique and unforgettable experience! Already looking forward to next year’s <3

What is love?

We gathered nearly 50 of our Glispians to have a vibrant, vogue-y photoshoot where we asked them the age-old question: ‘What is love?’ because in the end, love is love, beyond any societal construct.

We were overwhelmed by their responses and the support we saw from sharing our campaign with the world. See how it all came to life below and checking the #GlispaPRIDE posts on all our social channels. You can also catch all the behind the scenes fun via InstaStories under the #GlispaPRIDE highlight.

*Thanks to Jerome Gonzalez (@jrmpgnzls), Business Development Manager at Glispa and photographer, who captured this campaign so perfectly.

And we took the campaign offline! We put up posters outside of our HQ in Berlin + covered an entire billboard to share the campaign with our community. Pride month is about awareness and pushing the conversation forward, so it was amazing to see our neighbors walking by, stopping to check out people’s responses and thinking about their own.

So, what does love mean to you?

Pride party to raise money for an LGBTIQ* youth center

Glispa hosted a party in our Berlin HQ with Quandoo and HomeToGo to not only celebrate Pride, but raise money to donate to LAMBDA, an LGBTIQ* youth center in Berlin. LAMBDA is the only youth association of and for gay, lesbian, bi-, trans, inter and queer young people in Berlin and Brandenburg. They represent the LGBTIQ youth by supporting them in their process of self-recognition and providing a safe space within their community.

During the party, we invited Kai, their Managing Director, and some of the members of LAMBDA to share more about their organization and purpose. Thanks to everyone who donated and to Quandoo and HomeToGo as we collectively matched the donations made by our employees. In total, we raised 975 EUR! The contributions from the event will support them in attending Berlin’s Pride parade at the end of July, and push forward other initiatives within their community.

From karaoke to a hallway discotech, colorful cocktails, unicorns, glitter and RuPaul—we had an unforgettable evening. Thanks to everyone who made it so!

Pride month comes to an end, but our #GlispaPRIDE continues

While Pride month may have come to an end, the spirit of Pride remains as a symbol of how we can raise awareness and fight for what we believe in. It’s important to continue showcasing diversity, to ensure our colleagues, friends and community always feels supported and heard because ultimately it’s our differences that make us stronger. We hope that you enjoyed following our campaign this month, and appreciate your support.

Be mindful of your everyday actions, and remember that we, as a society, can only move forward as equals. Until next year!
