Glispa in Focus: Meet Account Manager and Korean Mobile Expert, Sun
Welcome back to Glispa in Focus, where we introduce our dedicated team of international mobile experts! We’re showing you who our Glispa employees are, to give you a better idea of the great minds we have here, and to show you what it’s like to work at Glispa Global Group.
We’re continuing our blog series today by introducing Sun, an Account Manager at Glispa focusing on the Korean mobile market.
Which global office:
Where are you from?
What brought you to Glispa?
I was looking for a job in Berlin because it is one of the most international cities in Europe and it’s a place where you can live and work in English. Aside from the fact that Glispa’s HQ is located in Berlin, I learned that Glispa is a diverse, multicultural company working with international clients all over the world—which was very attractive to me. Additionally, Korea was still very new to mobile marketing when I joined 2 years ago, and Glispa was already the global industry leader, but had not yet tapped into the Korean mobile market. This challenge intrigued me and I knew that combining my experience with the Glispa’s resources would be a success. So, I knocked on the door of Glispa’s Berlin HQ and that’s how I started working here.
Tell us a bit about your responsibilities in your team.
My team manages client accounts from China, Japan and Korea. My core clients are from Korea, and I take care of building strong relationships with them by managing their accounts to grow and meet their goals and KPIs.
What do you like best about your work environment?
Diversity. It’s amazing to be able to work alongside people with different cultural backgrounds.
Tell us about a significant achievement you are especially proud of.
Being the first Korean hire at Glispa, I was given the opportunity to start and grow the Korean market from the ground up. We now have a strong Korean team and continue expanding our business in this region!
What’s your personal highlight on a normal day at work?
There’s a lot. But if I had to pick one, it’d be every time I gain the trust of my clients and contribute to my team’s success.
You played a key role in establishing Glispa within the South Korean mobile ad tech market. What unique challenges did you face entering this market?
The first challenge was to make Glispa well-known in Korea’s mobile space. We were starting from scratch. But after investing in building a strong team for Korea that understands the local market nuances, Glispa now has a strong presence in the region’s mobile ad tech market.
What makes someone the right fit for the Client Services team?
To be a part of the Client Services team, you should have both strong analytical and sales skills to be able to confidently grow the accounts you manage. It’s also important to have a “can-do” attitude and know how to coordinate across several teams, as Account Managers on the Client Services team oftentimes have to work with other departments very closely.
Finally, what’s your weekend tip for Berlin and for Seoul?
For Berlin, when the weather is nice (during our lovely summers), try going to one of the flea markets in the city or you can barbeque in one of our many parks. Also, I recommend enjoying a refreshing, cold beer in one of the Biergartens!
For Seoul, try strolling down the center (Jongro) of Seoul where you can get a great view of both the traditional & modern buildings across the city. And both Seoul and Berlin are famous for going out, so enjoy a night out on the town with some good company!
