We’re proud to introduce to you Gil Danziger, Glispa’s new Chief Technology Officer from Tel Aviv, Israel, who currently lives and works in Berlin. He makes sure that ideas at Glispa are translated into technology fast and to the point. In this interview, he shares with us his insights on how it is to work at Glispa and how we use tech. Read on about his vision for the future of ad tech.

Can you explain your new role within the company a bit?

As the Chief Technology Officer I’m focusing on technical and product activities within Glispa. I’m responsible for the transformation of ideas into technology in furtherance of the company’s objectives.

What are you most excited about in this new role?

Taking a part in building a full stack mobile marketing platform that is powered by data. It’s exciting to operate in a global tech organization which moves fast.

Transparency is…

… something that is already more than just a wish. It has become a requirement that leads to cutting the unnecessary middle players. We are already seeing a consolidation of such companies, leaving only the professional players who provide an added value to the advertising funnel. What I see coming next, is a progression of this into the ad tech product/tech stack, which is quickly becoming a commodity. This will allow networks, agencies and even big publishers or advertisers to run their own advertising platform, and focus on building their secret sauce in terms of optimization algorithms and data.

So, what brought you to Glispa?

Since I’ve worked in the same industry for about 5 years before and have been passionate about entrepreneurship, I didn’t actually plan to be a CTO for another company. But after being approached by Glispa and talking with few key people in the board and the company, I realized that Glispa plans to build something big here, especially considering the M&As approach and merging them all into a larger offering. We are taking the company to a different level in terms of the industry.

What is interesting about the way Glispa uses tech?

It’s amazing to see that in Glispa, the entire company is using the products crafted in-house to power our business on a daily basis, other than using external platforms, which is quite a common case in our industry. Glispa also got a highly scalable platform hosted on our own data center allowing to support ingestion and processing large amounts of data and marketing events. That lowers the total cost of ownership and provides a better service to our clients.

What’s your advice for other newcomers in the company?

Whatever your role is about—from marketing to business development or tech—learn as much as you can about ad tech as a whole. Understand the basic terminology and the relationships between the various parties. It’s a huge industry that is constantly evolving with many variations and different players. It’s gonna help you a lot in your day-to-day operations. I also recommend checking some of the industry blogs like AdExchanger.

What’s been your favorite thing about the office life at Glispa so far?

Our office looks amazing, people are super friendly and easy going, and they love to socialize and hang out with each other. I was surprised how much people roll into our social Fridays.

What’s your secret tip for Berlin that you are willing to share?

If you enjoy modern art, you should definitely check Boros Collection, which is located within a huge bunker built during WW2.

Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest? And why?

Donald Trump… no! Wow there are quite a few, I’ll pick Jeff Bezos. I’d like to hear about the 10 years plan for his bookshop and how he gonna take over space travel.
